From Monday 30 July 2007, Romanian passport holders will no longer need visas to travel to New Zealand for visits of no longer than three months.
However, Romanian visitors travelling visa-free to New Zealand must genuinely intend a temporary stay in New Zealand for a lawful purpose such as holidaying, sightseeing, visiting family and friends, amateur sport, or business consultation. They must not intend to undertake employment or a course of study (other than a single course of study or training that lasts no longer than three calendar months). They will still need to be able to produce the following in order to gain entry to New Zealand:
- travel tickets or evidence of onward travel arrangements
- evidence of funds for maintenance during their stay in New Zealand.
Visa-free travellers arriving at New Zealand airports or other ports who are unable to meet these requirements may be refused entry to New Zealand.
